There are no happier people in the world than those who decide that they want something, define what they want, get hold of the feeling of it even before it's manifestation and then joyously watch the unfolding as, piece by piece by piece, it begins to unfold. That's the feeling of your hands in the clay.

The 4 Secrets of Happiness

  1. 1. Live in the Now

The chaos of life can consume us if we let it. Becoming conscious of our surroundings allows us to anchor ourselves in the present moment. The myriad of problems that exist in the past and future do not apply in the now. How exactly does one gain this sense of presence?

Presence is simply awareness of what's around you ( and inside you) right now. If I'm feeling particularly stressed or about to make an important decision, I'll take a few short breaths and calm my mind. Almost immediately, I'll have much greater clarity and wisdom than before. Doing this several times a day will help you not only to reduce stress but also to realize that you can consciously control your life.

You have the power to choose peace over stress. No matter what is going on, or how bad it seems, becoming present reinforces this idea. Try it right now.

Stop what you are doing and focus on your breathing. Breathe in, then out, and put as much concentration into each breath as you can. If you have ant thoughts, just observe them passing by; make no judgement. After even a few seconds of doing this you'll feel a much deeper peace that you felt before. As with all things, the more you do it, the better you'll get at it.
